The Full Story of Color Theory
Why are the primary colors of light beams Red, Blue, and Green? Why do painters use the primary colors Red, Blue, and Yellow.? This lesson clarifies these questions through a brief history of the science and a list of hands-on activities with 6 color filters.
You will learn how colors can be added or subtracted, depending on how the light is traveling through the filters. Then you will understand why mixing two paint colors produce different results than mixing two light beams of the same colors.
You will also meet James Clerk Maxwell who was the mastermind behind the first color photo and the RGB color scales of your computer screen.
This is suitable for older youth and adults. It expands on Chapter 11 of Lightlab.
