Since Lightlab’s publication, many special people helped me in amazing ways to meet the goals of the book
A BOOK FOR CHILDREN
AGES 8 - 12
It consists of twelve lessons on the nature of light, with hands-on activities that are simple and engaging.
The Bible studies revolve around God as the Creator, His plan for mankind through Christ, the importance of knowing His word, and the Holy Spirit’s role in the lives of Christians
Their efforts included:
Invitations to speak and conduct workshops at their church, school, or conference.
Commitments to teach Lightlab Clubs at their institution.
Helpful reviews on Amazon and Christianbooks.
Requests for Podcasts on Science and Faith (contact us for links)
To me, they are all heroes, and their efforts—often sacrificial—kept me encouraged and focused. I am especially indebted to those who have chosen to teach with Lightlab. It is always a pleasure to connect with the teachers when they reach out with questions or seek support. I am glad to offer training and the website has many free resources to facilitate their journey.
Today, I would like to recognize the most recent Lightlab teacher, whose resilience, dedication, and enthusiasm have been truly inspiring.
Tiffany Backus
at CHEER Homeschool co-op, Upper Darby PA
A phenomenal homeschool mom of seven children, Tiffany has gone through three rounds of Lightlab.
In 2019, her oldest children attended CHEER’s first Lightlab Club. She decided to keep going.
During 2020-2021, she taught her middle children at home, and the whole family met with me online for review and discussion.
Together on zoom with the Backus family, finishing up the last lesson “Be Salt and Light”
Tiffany’s daughter Trinity
wrote a report explaining how the periscope works. Trinity ended her report by sharing how this project connected her to God.
“God shines His light on us,
and we reflect His light when
others see us following Him. ”
This past winter 2026, Tiffany ran another Lightlab club at CHEER, attended by a great bunch of kids including her second youngest. In a letter to the parents of her Lightlab clubbers, Tiffany wrote:
“The students have been having a wonderful time discovering how the science of physical light helps us understand spiritual truths. Our theme is always the same: God is greater than His creation.
If light is fast, God is faster.
If light carries energy or has magnetic properties, God’s power and His ability to draw us to Himself are even greater.
If light reveals what is hidden, God reveals truth in an even deeper way.
Each week, the students explore a scientific concept, complete a hands‑on lab, and then make a connection between what they observed and how it reflects something about God's character. They are learning that we can learn about God by investigating the things He has made.”
Tiffany Backus
In the near future, She looks forward for her youngest child to study with Lightlab. Stay tuned.
I am forever grateful for Tiffany, and many are truly blessed by every Lightlab teacher. I wish to write about them all.

”I think that men of science as well as other men need to learn from Christ, and I think that Christians whose minds are scientific are bound to study science that this view of the glory of God may be as extensive as their being is capable of.
